One Week Training Module

Section I: Overview of the essentials of research

This section gives an insight into the proper preparation and storage of buffers and reagents. Most laboratories lack formal programs to train students on proper technique of pipetting. This section also helps in developing operator pipetting proficiency and consistency in single-channel and multi-channel pipetting, to minimize pipetting errors.

Section II: In vitro screening

Pre-clinical drug development is a stage of research that begins before the clinical trials (testing in humans). One important aspect of Pre clinical drug discovery is in vitro screening of drug molecules which helps in determining the effect of drug molecules on a particular disease target. In vitro screening is critical for the development of biologics and biopharmaceuticals.

The section deals with in vitro target based screening of drug molecules. The screening assays are based on spectrophotometry principles.
